Knights continue to roll with big win over Tigers

When Gilbert drove the field in their opening possession for a touchdown and easily scored the 2 point conversion, it seemed that last nights matchup with the Higley Knights was going to be a tightly contested game. But that was short lived. The Knights quickly took control of the game and returned the favor with a quick response and put 7 points of their own on the board. That was as close as it would get. Scoring an additional 39 unanswered points before the Tigers were finally able to score again midway through the 4th quarter. The Tigers were able to add on a final 6 points a few seconds before the game ended.  The normally high powered Tigers offense was hampered by some lingering injured players, some poor officiating and a very tough Knights defense.   Settling for just 3 points on an opening drive of the 2nd half, the Knights seemed to struggle to get anything really going after the midway break, only putting up 9 points in the half. But their defense continued to keep Gilbert’s QB Will Plummer scrambling and keeping the rest of the Tiger offense in check. The win moved the Knights to 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the conference. The Tiger loss dropped them to 4-5 overall and 3-5 in conference.
